Memorial service
The local Nepali community in New York is organizing a special memorial service for the 24 remarkable people who lost their lives in the tragic helicopter crashon September 23, 2006, in Taplejung, Nepal.
The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, at the Theresa Lang Auditorium at The New School (map).

Forum with Nepal’s UN Delegation
On Sunday, September 29th, 2006, there will be a forum with the Nepal’s delegation to the UN General Assembly 61st Session, which will be hosted by the Nepalese Democratic Youth Council, Alliance for Democracy and Human Rights in Nepal, and the United Nepalese Democratic Forum.
The delegation is headed by the Hon. Khadga Prasad Oli, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal. From the ADHRN website:
This event will bring our community members together and provide us with an ample opportunity to hear directly from delegation members as well as share our views on the current political development and transformation of Nepal.

South Asian Heritage Program
The NYC Comptroller, William C. Thompson, Jr., is honoring seven individuals during the upcoming celebration of South Asian Heritage on Wednesday, June 28, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Surrogate’s Court House.

Annual ANFS Meeting
The America-Nepal Friendship Society (ANFS) will have its first meeting of 2006 on January 20th, 2006, at 6 PM. The meeting will be held at

This is an important opportunity for all the members to seriously engage in assessing the past activities and chartering future course of ANFS. We will have a lot to cover at the meeting and therefore, I encourage every one to arrive on time.
ANFS has a significant number of Family Membership (husband & wife) and we may only have one email address for both. So please make sure that you communicate/pass on the meeting details to your spouses, friends, etc.
Light snacks will be served at the beginning and there will be full course dinner following the conclusion of the meeting. Every one is expected to contribute $20 to cover the evening’s expenses.
